Dr. Michael O’Brien is the Chief of Shoulder and Elbow services and Orthopaedics Residency Director at Tulane University. He joined the Tulane Department of Orthopaedics in 2009, after completing his orthopaedic residency at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD, and Shoulder & Elbow fellowship at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. O’Brien is currently Chair of the AANA Fellowship Committee, Co-Chair of the ASES Residency Course, a supervising physician for the Mississippi Sports Medicine Orthopaedic Center sports medicine fellowship program, and immediate past President of the Greater New Orleans Orthopaedic Society. He serves on the Editorial Board for the Arthroscopy Journal, and on the Board of Trustees of the Southern Orthopaedic Association. Dr. O’Brien is a current team physician for Tulane Athletics, NOLA Gold Rugby and Brother Martin High School.
