Dr. Keener is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University. He is currently the Chief of Service and Fellowship Director for Shoulder and Elbow Service, Washington University, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has served as faculty at Washington University for 14 years. Dr. Keener has a strong clinical interest in shoulder instability, fracture management, rotator cuff disorders, shoulder arthritic conditions and all pathologies related to the elbow. Dr. Keener completed the European American Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship in 2011. The focus of his research relates to the natural history of degenerative rotator cuff disease and clinical outcomes for rotator cuff and shoulder arthroplasty surgeries. In 2014 Dr. Keener, along with Drs. Yamaguchi and Teefey, received the Kappa Delta Ann Doner Vaughan Award for their collaborative efforts in research related to rotator cuff disease. Dr. Keener is actively involved in resident and fellowship education and has received numerous awards related to his teaching efforts.
