Dr. Parada is a board-certified, fellowship-trained, Shoulder specialist. Dr. Parada completed his orthopaedic surgery residency in the U.S. Army at Madigan Army Medical Center and then was selected for a fellowship in Shoulder Surgery at one of the most prestigious programs, the Boston Shoulder Institute Fellowship at Harvard Medical School. During his training, he was also fortunate to spend time in France and Switzerland working with and training under the top European Shoulder Specialists. He completed his military service in the U.S. Army after serving for 12 years which included a deployment to Afghanistan. Dr. Parada then took over at AU as the Director of Shoulder Surgery, taking over the position from his long-time mentor, Dr. Lynn Crosby, who retired. Dr. Parada is one of only 10 Georgia orthopaedic surgeons in the exclusive American Shoulder & Elbow Surgeons organization and the only one of those members outside of Atlanta and Columbus. He is a frequent lecturer and moderator at regional and national orthopaedic meetings and he has authored over 100 combined book chapters, journal articles and podium and poster abstracts. He is the President of the Georgia Shoulder & Elbow Society and serves on multiple committees of national organizations such as the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He performs extensive research in all matters related to the shoulder including clinical, biochemical and biomechanical studies. He is very passionate about providing care to his patients and strives to find the right plan for each person to fit their needs.
