Dr. Timothy Hartshorn

Dr. Hartshorn is a Harvard fellowship-trained shoulder surgeon specializing in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the shoulder. His interest in shoulder surgery was cultivated to a large extent by his mentors during residency at the University of Southern California and those during fellowship on the Harvard Shoulder Service. An invaluable part of his training was the time spent overseas with world-renowned shoulder surgeons in Zurich, Switzerland, and Lyon, France.

Dr. Hartshorn has authored multiple book chapters and has many publications in the peer-reviewed literature. Recently, he was honored by his reappointment as a faculty instructor for the San Diego Shoulder Course, a prominent course now in its 32nd year with attendees from around the globe. Currently, Dr. Hartshorn’s passion lies in complex, revision procedures, but he also performs primary and minimally invasive surgery as well. He is conservative in nature, however, and prefers non-surgical options as an initial step in the treatment of most patients suffering from shoulder pain.
